J.B Brass Band - December 2017 Newsletter

14 December 2017

Another year is drawing to a close – and what a great year it has been for the Band! Over the last few weeks we've been concentrating on getting ready for our biggest even of the year – our beach-front Christmas Day concert on La Zenia beach at 12.30 lunchtime!

We're hoping to top last year's record crowd of around 4,000 – we hope anyone reading this Newsletter will come along and help us create a new record (as well as having a lovely time!).

On Saturday night (16th December) we're performing at The Musical Union in San Miguel de Salinas where we will be playing everyone's favourite Christmas carols and ever-popular Christmas tunes – again, everyone is welcome and we hope readers will come along and have a lovely evening! It may be wise to call me (Ian) at TPS Homes (Tel: 966 194 185, or 628 267 438) to check that there are some tickets left!

I'm sure that the atmosphere will again be fantastic with the Band playing and volunteers collecting money for Charity (the proceeds will be presented to the Charity at a special Concert in January).

A little reminder about JB Brass: the Band is a non profit making organisation (even Band members pay €1.00 every week to play!). All income generated from concerts is donated to the specific, named charities the Band supports (after modest deductions for expenses such as music, stands, uniforms etc). We practise every Wednesday evening from 5.00pm – 8.00pm above the Musical Union in San Miguel de Salinas, with a short coffee/beer break in the middle. Visitors are always welcome to come along and listen!

We are always on the lookout for new members - whether learners or experienced players - at the moment we're working hard to get together instruments to start a youth, or learners' band. So, if you maybe played an instrument at school, or always had a dream of ‘giving it a go', why don't you come along on a Wednesday evening for a chat – as they say, everyone was a beginner once!

As normal, please keep an eye out in the local press for details of upcoming concerts, or pop in to see us at T.P.S. Homes in San Miguel (Opening Hours: Monday – Friday: 10.00am – 2.00pm).

A HUGE Thank You! from the Band to everyone who supports us...
